Connect to Your True Purpose

FEBRUARY 17 – 22, 2018

Our modern lives are so busy – we are so used to running from one thing to the next, we rarely stop for a moment to ask, “is this making me happy?”

With all that we’ve accumulated and achieved, we’re no happier for it.  In many ways we’re even worse off. All this busyness, acquiring and chasing has just drawn us more up into our heads; believing and listening to the voice that’s always telling us we’re not enough, that everyone else is doing better, if only… then I’d be happy.

This is what leaves us feeling disconnected and anxious. It creates a sense of lack inside of us, a hole we’re desperate to fill, but never seem to be able to.

Retreats have been an integral part of my path, helping me to go beyond the voice that never stops talking and connect with my true self.

Because our lives are so busy, it’s hard to do this with an hour here and there.  Retreats free us from our everyday commitments and allow us to immerse ourselves in the wisdom teachings and practices that help us discover and connect to our true selves, making us feel whole again.

Join me in the beautiful bay of La Ventana, Mexico for a 4-day meditation retreat where we’ll explore practices and teachings to help us stay connected to an inner peace and stillness that is found inside each and every one of us.

Some of the benefits you’ll leave the retreat with are:

You’ll feel more relaxed, recharged and rejuvenated.

You’ll be more confident and less anxious.

You’ll be able to handle challenging and stressful situations more easily.

You won’t take things so personally.

You’ll feel more connected and whole (this is what we really want!).

You’ll leave with tools that can help you manage life ups and downs more skillfully.

You’ll connect with other like-minded friends that help support you in your practice.

You’ll be happier.

The retreat will be held in La Ventana Bay, a small fishing village surrounded by majestic desert mountains and framed by miles of sandy beach.

Casa Tara is the newest addition to La Ventana. A luxury yoga retreat center, providing all the pampering you need and balancing that out with the simplicity of the Baja desert.

During your free time you can relax by the pool, enjoy a massage at the spa or a leisurely stroll along the beach.

If you’re looking for a little bit more physical movement you can go snorkeling, stand-up paddle boarding, kitesurfing, mountain biking or drop in on one of the many yoga classes offered at the Retreat Center.

Tuesday:           10:00 – 3:00

Wednesday:    10:00 – 3:00

Thursday:        10:00 – 3:00

Friday:              2:00 – 8:30

Lunch will be between 12:00-1:00.
Dinner on Friday will be between 6:00-7:00

My teaching style combines traditional Eastern wisdom and practices integrated with 21st century neuroscience, giving you a solid and scientific foundation to discover more deeply who you are and what you want in life.

I began meditating in the late 90’s initially as a way to manage my stress, anxiety and depression.  What I discovered was a deeper meaning that has totally transformed who I am and given me the courage to live a life that is true to me.

I am a Certified Meditation and Mindfulness Instructor, Certified Life Coach and have a degree in Microbiology from Miami University.

What Past Retreat Participants Had To Say…

Sue Mohr

British Columbia, Canada

“It would take pages to describe everything that I enjoyed, but if I had to state only one it would be the people. First, Meredith’s caring, experience, passion, and attention to detail and her ability to convey the information so beautifully. And second, the depth of soul and empathy of all the participants and their desire to learn more about themselves and how to support others. I met many new friends.

All I can say is that the retreat was beyond anything I could have imagined. I thought I might get bored at some point during the 4 days, but I was totally focused throughout each day. It was amazing how well I stayed engaged with everything that was offered.”

Heather Horsfall

Nova Scotia, Canada

“This retreat more than met my expectations. I was delighted by the group and the trust that grew. The level of openness in the small group discussion I was involved with was a terrific surprise. I didn’t expect the time to go so quickly and I didn’t expect to love your voice and delivery for four intense days as much as I did. I think I could listen to you all day every day forever. “

Carol Hanner

Oregon, USA

“I truly feel that my life changed and I noticed it the second day in my relationship with my husband. Meredith gave me the tools – now I need to bring them into my daily life and routine. The journaling really helped. I found I could express myself like I haven’t been able to in ages. The letter to ourselves was really effective. I can’t believe how much I wanted to say to myself. It poured out of me. “

Mary Napier

British Columbia, Canada

“The best parts for me were 1. the connection and sharing of the group which was exceptional in my experience with groups and 2. Meredith. You were the heart and soul of the retreat, guiding us through the meditations and learning practices with your soothing voice, your wonderful sense of humor and the huge amount of wisdom and food for thought you offered.”

Graham Wilson

Yukon, Canada

“I now understand why retreats are important to the practice of meditation. Having the opportunity to immerse yourself seems to have significant impact. I look forward to participating in other retreats with Meredith.”

Doreen Bryant

Washington, USA

“My favorite thing about the retreat was the people. I met so many people that I really didn’t know before. The discussions and heartfelt interactions were greatly appreciated. Of course the teachings shared by Meredith were the reason we all were there. I thought that the topics and discussions were well thought out and planned and with the many breaks and changes in topics it never became boring. Thank you so much for bringing something like this to La Ventana.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I’m new to meditation or have never meditated at all?

Prior meditation experience is not necessary for attending this retreat.  All of the meditations will be guided so you will never be left wondering what you should be doing.  I’ll be there with you every step of the way.

I’ve heard that meditation retreats can be very intense, is this retreat like that?

I have done many of those intense retreats where we meditate for 8-9 hours per day; this retreat will be nothing like that.

We will be together for several hours a day, but I’ve also purposely left enough free time for you each day so you can relax by the pool, go for a stroll on the beach, have a massage and just take the time you need to reflect on what you’re learning and how you can apply these lessons.

What if I have physical limitations?

Chairs and very comfortable (bean bag style) chairs are available to sit in for the teachings and meditations.  However, the meditation room is up a flight of stairs and there is no wheelchair access.  If you have any concerns please contact me directly at

Is Mexico safe?

I have been going down to Mexico for over 10 years and have never had any problems.  In particular, the retreat destination La Ventana is very safe.  It is mostly middle-class, by Mexican standards, and is very family-oriented.  Over the winter the population is more than half Americans and Canadians and the local residents happily welcome us.

Do I need a visa?

Visas are not required for participants from the following countries:  United States, Canada, U.K. and Japan.  Please check this website for further information:

What if I need to cancel?

My fees are 100% refundable up to 30 days before the retreat. From 29 days up to the retreat my fees are 75% refundable.

Casa Tara’s Cancellation policy is as follows: 10% confirmation deposit is non-refundable. Further deposits are refundable at 50% if cancellation is prior to 30 days before arrival. After 30 days all deposits are non-refundable.
